Abstract
The article emphasizes the need to pay attention to the examples of folk art in the study of the history of the popular uprising of 1916. The Karakalpak people to their songs gives historical information on the uprising under the leadership of Avesian Khodja in Khiva khanate. Also, the uprising that arose in connection with the events of "mardikor" is widely covered in folk art. The task of historians is to make extensive use of these valuable historical sources.
