Abstract

The high growth rate of motorized vehicles, on the one hand, can encourage the rate of economic growth, but on the other hand, can cause very serious environmental impacts. The growth of motorized vehicles in the city of Padang can endanger air pollution on health and the environment which will affect the social and economic life of the community. The purpose of this study was to determine and analyze the Impact of Motor Vehicle Exhaust Emissions on Ambient Air Quality in Padang City in 2022. The method in this research is descriptive and quantitative. Road Research Locations. Dr. Supomo - Simpang Haru (Location A), Street Ampang Raya - Simpang Alai (Location B), Street Prof. Dr. Hamka - in front of UNP (Location C). The population in the study of exhaust emission parameters at the research site. The samples in this study were parameters SO2, NO₂, and CO. The results showed that the emission of SO2 parameters in the morning and evening conditions ranged from 6.88 g/m₃-22.2 g/m₃, for the NO₂ parameter it ranged from 20.4 g/m₃ - 44.1 g/m₃ at this parameter is still within below the specified quality standard means that air pollution is still not polluted, while the emission of CO parameters in the morning and evening conditions ranges from 5840.5 g/m₃ – 17,178 g/m₃ in this parameter is above the specified quality standard, meaning that air pollution has been polluted.
